Former Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has been named as the new head coach of Blackburn Rovers.

The 53-year-old replaces Owen Coyle who left the club my mutual consent yesterday after winning 11 of his 37 games.

Mowbray, who has previous experience managing the likes of West Brom, Celtic and Middlesbrough, will take charge of his first match this weekend as Rovers travel to Burton Albion.

He has joined the club on an 18-month deal and becomes the seventh manager to take charge at Ewood Park since the club’s takeover by the Venky’s in 2010.
