Blackburn boss Owen Coyle has left the club by mutual consent.
The news comes two days after they suffered a narrow defeat at the hands of Manchester United in the FA Cup, thanks to a late winner from substitute Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Coyle, 50, joined Rovers in June last year after spells at Bolton, Burnley and more recently Houston Dynamos of the MLS but has won 11 out of his 37 games.
The Lancashire club are currently three points from relegation with 15 games remaining.
“The decision has been taken to give the club the best possible chance of climbing to a position of safety in the Championship,” said a club statement.
